Embrace Your Homeschool Without Comparison | In Due Season Vol 1.4

We may earn money or products from the companies mentioned in this review or post, but all opinions are our own.

In the last few weeks we talked about ways to show our children love in our Homeschooling time. We are going to continue this month by taking about comparison. First, I encouraged you to practice being intentional and focused with significant blocks of time.

I hope you enjoyed greater peace while you focused on instruction without distractions. Did you give yourself permission to get rid of a few distractions? What were some of the things that make your day stumble? I have a no laundry policy during school. In theory we are right next to the laundry room, but stopping to fold the next load never happens at a good point and only ended up being a chance for the kids to escape to the back yard.

Last month I asked you to explore your child’s unique interests and gifts.

We already talked about several ways I was able to incorporate my kids interests into our school day. I hope that you were inspired to look for ways to incorporate your kids interests into your educational plans. What is one way that you were able to show interest in your child’s talents or found a unique way to add them to some portion of your lesson plan. I hope that you and your child were encouraged and excited about the idea of making their interests creditable for school.

In this month’s lessons we talk about the fact that comparison will kill your joy

We have learned the significant lesson of embracing a personalized homeschool. Finding the best fit for your family is a challenge, but when you find it, it will fuel your passion and interests. We will be talking about how to avoid the comparison trap in your life as well as build a schedule that works for you. There is no shortage of great advice out there, but the best advice is to find what is working well and maximize it. Don’t feel obligated to change your world drastically to fit homeschooling. It should become a part of the life you are already living.

As a veteran Homeschooler I can say without a doubt that one of the best skills I have developed is the ability to trust myself. Trusting my instincts did not come naturally. I have had many missteps along the way that have helped me grow over the last 12 years of homeschooling. I know that with enough fits and starts you will undoubtedly come to a place where you can be confident with your family exactly as you are.

The best advice I can offer is to embrace being you!

[Tweet “Embrace everything about you, your quirks, your schedule, and your crazy life”] If you are like many homeschool families, you might not fit the public-school mold. To be quite honest, in our family, we do not even fit the homeschool mold. I have had a lot of lessons in making comparisons to help me embrace our crazy uniqueness.

Do you think you have found your fit in the world of homeschooling? Is comparison ever a challenge for you? Next week I will share some ways I have been challenged with comparison.
