Setting Your Homeschool GPS | In Due Season Volume 1.9

Setting a final destination in your Homeschool GPS will keep you from getting lost.
Setting out on the journey of homeschooling is a huge undertaking. The route will change and alter with every child, but the end destination is that fixed point in the future; graduation day.
On the outset of any trip we set the address of our final destination into our GPS device.
Immediately we know how long our journey is going to be and could plan our stops along the way. I want to share with you about how I set my GPS for homeschooling.
Some people call it a mission statement, I just call it my “Why” page.
But first I want to talk about why you need a page like this in your homeschool.
You’re “Why” page is a buffer against disappointment, comparison, fear, and frustration.
On the days when those things are your worst enemies, your “Why” page is going to be your constant beacon. You will pull it out and reread these precious words to remind you exactly why you chose homeschooling in the first place. Your “Why” page will be your compass-rose; it will serve as the key to reading the homeschool map you are building with these posts.
Your why page will remind of your purpose with passion and honesty.
It will help carry you through times when disappointment makes you want to quit. Your “Why” page will carry you through times when you feel like you are not doing enough, or not measuring up to the standard others are holding against.
Your “Why” page is the constant standard.
It should include the truths that you should measure yourself against, so that you don’t fall victim to the opinion of others but instead are constantly redirected and strengthened by your own purpose, God’s truth and your mission statement.
Do you have a mission statement for your homeschool already in place?
Leave a comment and let me know if you have found your mission statement helpful in your homeschool journey as well.
